Shreya Ghoshal Creates History

Hearthrob singer Shreya Ghoshal went on to become the first female in the history of Filmfare Awards to win three Best Singer awards in one night. Proud fans of Shreya went in a euphoric tizzy when one after the other her name was announced for three out of the four best singer awards(female) due for the night at the 59th Filmfare Awards 2012 (South)!

Although ecstatic, Shreya Ghoshal's die-hard fans did'nt seem surprised- they always knew she could do it. Said one fan, "3 awards. 3 languages. 1 woman :D #WeLoveYouShreya”. Actor/Singer Kamaal R Khan, often in the news for his crazy comments on Shreya, again seemed bowled over by the singer; said he, "I can say that @shreyaGhoshal is best singer in India ever. She is better than Lata ji.".

The gorgeous diva won the awards for her songs in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. This is, infact, the first time that any singer, or for that matter, if I am not wrong, any artiste across the film industry, has achieved this feat in India. Incidentally, last year saw Shreya winning two Filmfare(South) awards. In all, Shreya has now won a record 12 Filmfares.

Shreya, who could not attend the awards ceremoney due to her hectic schedules, said, "So sad I couldn’t attend Filmfare Awards South:( this day will stay as a landmark in the life. I m too too tooooo humbled by ur love n faith".

Earlier this year, as a rude shock, Shreya lost this year's Filmfare(Hindi) to the veteran singer Usha Uthup and the National Film Award to Rupa Ganguly.

After winning the Filmfare trio, Shreya thanked all her music directors, especially Ilayaraja, for his support and encouragement. Shreya as we all know, shot to instant fame with Sanjay Bhansali’s film Devdas where all the 5 songs she rendered went on to become blockbusters; making her an overnight sensation as well fetching her  her 1st Filmfare as well as National Award.
