Shreya Ghoshal has smashed all music popularity charts with her sexy, sensuous, naughty and a bit of raunchy rendition of the super hit songs Ooh La La and Twinkle Twinkle from the movie Dirty Picture. Infact, with this movie and these two songs Shreya has again reaffirmed the belief that she is by far the most versatile of the contemporary Indian singers. By venturing into this genre of singing Shreya has also shut the mouth of many critics who still had some nibbling doubts about her range, pitch and her command over various genres of singing.
Inspired by the 1980s Bappi Lahiri song 'Oii Amma' from the movie 'Mawaali' and composed fantastically by Vishal-Shekhar, Ooh La La is an explosion of raw sexuality - Vidya Balan on screen while Shreya Ghoshal behind the microphone. Infact, if we go by sheer rawness and shock value factors then Shreya Ghoshal in this song actually leaves Vidya Balan behind with her spot-on expressions ; especially with the way she says 'Uffooo' and the likes in this song. Shreya Ghoshal is clearly the voice of 'Dirty Picture' - one hearing of this song and you get the feel of 'Dirty Picture'.
Infact, Shreya Ghoshal has gone one step ahead in the seduction game with her second song of the album – the less promoted ‘Twinkle-Twinkle’. The way she says, “Budhe Ho Phir Bhi...” sets the male adrenalin going completely haywire. Totally saucy. Hats off to the composers for re-creating 80s' music with such honesty and also for giving Shreya Ghoshal a new platform to further vent her talent.
From being the heart throb and a youth icon Shreya Ghoshal is finally transforming into the 'Queen of Music'. Not only this, going by her recent appearances at shows and parties and by browsing through her tweets, one can clearly see Shreya making a much needed shift as far as her image, her wardrobe and personality is concerned. From being simple and beautiful she is finally moving towards becoming hot and sexy.
Surely, Shreya Ghoshal wants to explore, experiment and move away from being only 'Shreya Di'-the name by which many young fans of Shreya know her.
