Shreya Ghoshal No.1 Singer of India in 2014 - Forbes India

Shreya Ghoshal has emerged as the real heart throb singer of India in 2014.

As per Forbes India, Shreya ranks a cool # 21 in the top 100 FAME list of Indian celebs. She stands talls amid bigwig celebs like Salman Khan(#1), Virat Kohli and Amitabh Bachchan.

This soaring popularity came in spite of the fact that Shreya sang less in 2014 and had no TV shows either. Perhaps her electrifying live shows, corporate gigs and her major foray into non-film music did the trick.

It maybe noted that Shreya Ghoshal got a instant spike in her fame in 2014 when her Ghazal album - Humnasheen and her song Kismat Se for Kapil Sibal-A.R. Rehman collaboration  released.

Last year Shreya was ranked at the 43rd spot. So, the jump to spot 21 is huge.

Shreya Ghoshal is miles ahead of all other Indian singers in terms of Fame and is second only to Sonu Niigam in terms of earnings. In fact, Shreya Ghoshal is ahead of many top Bollywood heartthrobs like Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, porn star Sunny Leone, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. She is beats Abhishek Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Chetan Bhagat and Anushka Sharma on the fame chart.

In FAME, Sonu Niigam trails Shreya and is at No. 32, Katrina Kaif at 39 and Sunidhi Chauhan at 48.

Congratulations Shreya Ghoshal for being the No.1 singer of 2014!

Shreya Ghoshal Does More Shows & Records Less Songs in 2014

Shreya Ghoshal Ramps up Shows in 2014

Reigning queen of Indian pop music Shreya Ghoshal focussed more on live shows than studio recordings in 2014 as compared to 2013.

Shreya in fact believes that there is more satisfaction and fun in performing before a live audience than in a recording studio. No wonder, she connects beautifully with her audience, builds a rapport and delivers high voltage shows after shows.

Last year the diva recorded a meagre 19 songs as compared to 29 last year. More shows, however did mean that Shreya's earnings went up in 2014 as compared to 2013.

On the Forbes Money List she is up at  #41 in 2014; previous year she was at rank 48.

Her ranking in the Fame List took a huge jump from # 43 last year to # 21 this year (2014).

She is in fact miles ahead of all other Indian singers in terms of popularity. By this account  Shreya Ghoshal is most popular and liked singer of India. The next most liked singer on the list is Sonu Niigam at # 32.

Shreya Ghoshal – A Fan’s Perspective

Can you think of a singer who is constantly evolving? A singer who sounds just as divine live as recorded? A singer whose humility has captured hearts and acquired respect? Prodigious, perfect, inimitable and legendary; a few of the words strongly affiliated with this songstress. Yes, I’m referring to the voice behind your favourite songs – my role model, Shreya Ghoshal.

For many, she defines music. She is a youth icon, the leading Indian female singer, a judge and mentor. For others, she is the pride of India. For me, Shreya is a sacred gift to music lovers’ of our generation and future generations. When it comes to Shreya Ghoshal’s songs, one does not just merely listen; one delves into her vocals appreciating every note and technique. I researched Shreya and was immediately enticed. With her aura being so compelling, getting to know her without becoming an admirer isn’t an option.

Shreya’s reign commenced in 2002 with the Devdas soundtrack, and since she has become a worldwide phenomenon accumulating a huge fan following. Upon realisation that all my favourite songs were sung by one individual, I researched Shreya and was immediately enticed. With her aura being so compelling, getting to know her without becoming an admirer isn’t an option. Be it her childlike nature, the foodie in her, her magnanimity, her quirkiness or her philosophical outbursts, there’s a lot to adore about Shreya!

Modesty and talent is a rare combination. Despite the abundance of awards and affection, Shreya has remained grounded, still mirroring her younger self in the green frock crooning Suniyo Ji on SaReGaMaPa, and that’s why I’m a huge fan of not only Shreya the singer but person too. Having met her twice, I didn’t feel as if I was in the presence of a celebrity but a friend. The beauty of her persona coincides with the beauty and innocence exuded by her voice; she is her voice personified. Shreya is the kind of person who spends Valentines Day with less fortunate people, and has inspired her fans, including myself, to do the same.

At the tender age of 16 she revolutionised the music scene and has massively enhanced it over the decade. She has taught me that the sky isn’t the limit, as long as you’re dedicated and true to your work you can materialise your dreams. It always perplexes me to think that one who has already reached unimaginable heights still has so much untapped potential. Shreya’s vocal prowess and versatility have transcended her to a league of her own. In my opinion she is the only Indian singer who has real soul and depth to her voice, and that soul can reduce one to tears. Oozing passion for good music, Shreya works beyond the description of a playback singer in hope of distorting the monopoly in the album market. Her passion is reflected by her dedication, from recording five songs in five different languages in a single day to performing with a fractured foot – Shreya is unstoppable.

She has positively influenced my life and acts as a constant source of motivation. I’m proud to be a Shreya fan. When I’m down, it’s her songs I turn to. When I’m happy, it’s her songs that I celebrate with. When I feel like giving up, it’s her musical journey that I recall. She has positively influenced my life and acts as a constant source of motivation. Shreya Ghoshal is not a mere singer; she is a musician, role model, achiever and activist for movement in the music industry.
